Time for a change
Your new look newsletter that's more than just a newsletter
Dear Friends
First of all, a big welcome to those who signed up following the Angelio Book Club. It was a great night; we should do it againg some time! And secondly, welcome one and all to my attempted new beginning using Substack. While many of you won’t notice the difference, I’m hoping this change will make it less likely my updates will be swallowed by your spam filters, and therefore more likely you actaully know what I’m up to!
If you are reading this in your emails and thinking, “I don’t remember signing up for this”, then of course you are free to unsubscribe at any time. (I hope you won’t though).
More ways to join us
Another advantage for me in experimenting with this new platform is that people can sign up to follow these updates from within Substack. Which means there is potentially more chance of getting the word out about our beloved Tammo & Carlo, and the Asexual Fairy Tales.
Oh, hello
If you’re reading this on Substack and don’t know who I am - or if you have forgotten - here’s a little visual introduction.

I’ll do my best to make this a space for kindness, understanding, and representation. If I get things wrong, I will try to learn from it and do better next time. I hope you’ll do the same. It will also - of course - be a space for magic flutes, crow companions, male sopranos, queer saints, glass coffins, mysterious towers, merfolk and more.
Don’t know what I’m doing here; carry on regardless
Did I mention this is an experiment? I don’t actually know if it will be better or worse. There are all sorts of additional features I could potentially add as I go along, such as paid posts for subscribers with extra-jucy BTS about Angelio or something. Would anyone be up for that? I guess I’ll try to keep up with a monthly update but - as has happened recently - I might have things to tell you more than once a month. For the time being, we’ll have to see how it goes. I thought I’d start simple.
Speaking of which, let’s have some actual news
The Anthropocene Epic is out now! This anthology contains an exclusive short story set in the world of Angelio. In it, Carlo encounters a lady with a strange illness - one you may recognise from More Asexual Fairy Tales.
If you haven’t yet discovered Angelio, this could be a fun way to dip your toe into my fantasy 18th-century world. The editor, Sera Amoroso, describes the book as “cosy horror”, which is a bit strange, because that’s not at all how I would describe “Hearts of Glass”! But I haven’t had a chance to read the other stories and poems in the collection yet. Perhaps all will be explained!
And for those who might have missed it, I’m running a survey to see if people would be interested in a picture book that explains being ace in a child-friendly way. It’s only 8 questions long. I’d be so grateful if as many people as possible could fill it in. It would be another collaboration with Anna. More explanation and a little extract in the survey.
That’s all for now!
Stay safe and keep reading
Elizabeth
